Volunteers to help village as it recovers from floods

FORT?PLAIN – The Fulton Montgomery County Long Term Recovery Committee will host its first Community Rebuilding Day in the village from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.

More than 100 volunteers will be working on nine projects in the area, including muck-outs, demolition, mold remediation, sheetrocking and plumbing as the community continues its recovery from flooding in late June.

Between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m., volunteers will meet at Haslett Park, where they will be paired with volunteers.

A community meal for volunteers will be served from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Fort Plain Reformed Church, 165 Canal St.

The committee is processing cases for more than 50 residents, identifying specific unmet needs. The most common and immediate needs are for furnaces and foundation and electrical work.
