BROADALBIN – A Broadalbin-Perth Central School District committee of students, faculty, staff, parents and community members are trying to come up with an official district logo.
“Since the Broadalbin and Perth districts merged, we’ve used a variety of logos to represent B-P, some more than others, but none of them have ever been considered ‘official,'” Superintendent Stephen Tomlinson said in a news release. “We need a unifying visual identity that people both inside and outside of our community can come to recognize and associate with Broadalbin-Perth and all that our district stands for.”
Members of the district logo committee are asking students, parents, teachers, staff, alumni and residents to submit their design ideas for the new district logo by Oct. 7. Submissions can be on paper or digital files. Design ideas should be limited to the district colors, which are red, white and blue. However, one-color (black and white) artwork also will be accepted, the news release said.
Digital submissions should be emailed to district communications specialist Michele Kelley at [email protected]. Paper submissions should be mailed to Kelley’s attention at Broadalbin-Perth High School, 100 Bridge St., Broadalbin, NY 12025, or dropped off at the high school main office.
The committee wants to present a final logo design to the Board of Education in January, when board members will consider adopting it as the district’s official logo, the news release said.
“It’s important to note that this isn’t a logo design contest,” Kelley said in the news release. “Committee members are looking for ideas from our community – the final logo will likely draw from many different ideas, rather than having one ‘winning’ design.”
Community members are encouraged to share their ideas about the logo’s design as well as the design process with any of the following committee members: Jon Aery, intermediate school art teacher; Georgia Baldwin, district clerk and secretary to the superintendent; Brian Henry, high school biology teacher and boys varsity soccer coach; Tammy Staie, TLC teaching assistant and member of the TLC/IS Shared Decision-Making Team; and Laurie Tambasco, a member of the MS/HS Shared Decision-Making Team.
