GLOVERSVILLE – Mayor Dayton King won the Republican and Conservative primaries Tuesday in the race for Gloversville mayor.
According to unofficial vote counts late Tuesday, in the Republican primary, King received 435 votes, Michael Ponticello received 372 votes and James Handy received 133 votes.
In the Conservative primary, King received 19 votes and Handy received six votes, according to unofficial results.
The victory gives King the Republican and Conservative ballot lines going into the November general election.
Handy still will appear on the ballot in November on the independent line.
Ponticello, who was endorsed by the Gloversville Republican Committee, did not file to run as an independent.
