ROOT – The Route 162 bridge over the Erie Canalway Trail and an abandoned railroad in the town has been completed, the state Department of Transportation announced.
All lanes were opened to traffic Wednesday.
The state replaced the bridge deck. The work was part of a $20 million contract to replace 11 bridge decks in the region.
Work on the project began April 4 and was completed almost a week ahead of schedule, according to a news release from the DOT.
The work was funded through the NY Works program, which focuses on improving the condition of bridges from fair condition to good condition in order to extend their service life, the news release said.
