NORTHVILLE – Students at Northville Central School are being offered more wellness activities this spring, according to the district.
A total of 93 runners in grades six through 12 participated in the first Falcon Sprint earlier this month.
Students, staff and community members completed the one-mile event through the village.
They had the choice to walk, run, bike, unicycle or use a scooter.
A portion of the event was competitive. The fastest girl and boy in each grade won a medal manufactured using the school’s computer numerical control machine.
The logo design was created by a 10th-grader, Jane Hoffman. All participants received a Falcon Sprint T-shirt.
The PTO donated water and sports drinks.
Shannon Fitzgerald, a spokeswoman for the district, said the district is considering doing several wellness events.
“We’re still in rough planning stages on that, but it’s starting to come together. Next month, possibly mini-golf featuring a student-built course, maybe something featuring the lake for June, then continuing with a different event each month next school year,” Fitzgerald said.
