Johnstown 2016 schedule of events set

JOHNSTOWN – The city’s Committee on Tourism and Special Events will soon release into the community its new 2016 Events Schedule poster, which features fun events in the city ranging from Summerfest to the Colonial Stroll.

In its third year, the purple and gold poster was again done by local graphic artist Linda Hinkle. It is currently being printed and will be made public soon, destined to be seen in many businesses, restaurants and other sites throughout the area.

“They will be distributed throughout the city,” Johnstown 3rd Ward Councilwoman Helen Martin, committee chairwoman, said Wednesday.

The committee provided The Leader-Herald with a sneak preview of the 2016 poster. The poster includes listings of both 2016 city-sponsored events, as well as non-profit and private agency events in Johnstown.

“We don’t charge for anything the city puts on,” Martin said.

Special events planned this year include the city-sponsored Summerfest set for 3 to 6 p.m. June 25 at Knox Field, with fireworks planned to start at dusk.

“We did this last year for the first time and we had a very good response,” Martin said.
