Open house slated for CRG

GLOVERSVILLE — The Fulton County Center for Regional Growth will conduct an open house and unveiling of its new building, to be known as The Center, on April 27.

The CRG building at 34 W. Fulton St. is going through changes and agency officials want it to be known in as the future as “The Center.”

CRG President and CEO Ronald Peters told his board of directors Friday that a CRG open house and “unveiling” of The Center is set for 4 p.m. April 27.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced earlier this year that the city of Gloversville and the CRG were awarded a $425,000 grant from the state’s Restore NY funding. The plan is to turn The Center into both a business center and incubator for Fulton County. The property also has a $300,000 grant secured last year through retired state Sen. Hugh T. Farley. In addition, the CRG has also been awarded a $50,000 grant from National Grid.

Peters said noted other events the CRG will be involved in for 2017. They include a combined Fulton County/CRG Tryon marketing event with Commercial and Industrial Real Estate Brokers Inc., set for June 21. Another is a proposed combined Fulton County/CRG Site Selectors Guild event Sept. 6 through 8.

“I think both will be major events,” Peters said.

The CRG is also planning a proposed fall business showcase event sometime in October.

A six-county business financing symposium partially sponsored by the Mohawk Valley Economic Development District will be conducted this year at a date and location to be announced, Peters said.

Among the events, Peters said that he will be attending, on behalf of the CRG, is a Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce 2017 Business Expo set for 4 p.m. April 6 at the Johnstown Moose Lodge. It is expected to be a one-day business exposition that showcases chamber members’ products and services. It will also offer businesses the opportunity to engage in business-to-business and consumer marketing and networking.

Peters said he plans on attending the Industrial Asset Management Council’s summit April 10 through 12 in Tampa, Fla. The IAMC is the leading trade association for corporate real estate executives focused on the needs of an industrial portfolio.

He also plans to attend the Select USA Investment Summit June 18 through 20 in Baltimore, Md.

“It’s all part of networking,” Peters said.
