Police abandon chase, ask for public’s help

GLOVERSVILLE — City police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the driver of a vehicle that led police on a chase through the northeast side of the city.

Officers said on Thursday morning, at approximately 5:15 a.m., they attempted to stop a vehicle for a violation of the state vehicle and traffic law in the area of East Fulton Street and Kingsboro Avenue.

After the suspect vehicle had pulled over, the driver sped off heading east on East Fulton Street before turning north on East Boulevard at a high rate of speed leading officers toward North Boulevard.

The vehicle then headed northbound on Kingsboro Avenue before heading eastbound on East State Street out of the city.

The vehicle continued to travel at a high rate of speed on Route 349 where, for public safety concerns, officers terminated the pursuit.

It was later learned that the vehicle, a white 2015 Hyundai Accent bearing NYS Passenger Registration HLF1272, was a rental vehicle reported stolen out of St. Johnsville.

Police are looking for the public’s assistance in helping to identify the driver or the male passenger who was observed being picked up in the area of 158 East Fulton Street just prior to the stop.
