Nine dogs found dead

STRATFORD — State Police said they have found nine deceased dogs at a town home and are in the process of attempting to locate the owner, Bentley A. Valdez.

Troopers said they were investigating a report of animal abandonment at 404 County Highway 104, when they discovered 22 French Mastiffs, also known as Dogue De Bordeauxs, at the property. Nine of the dogs were dead and the remaining 13 were in various states of emaciation.

Troopers said the dogs had no food or water and it is unknown when the dogs were last fed.

Some of the animals were confined in the residence and others were outside in makeshift kennels and cages. The dogs were removed and are being fostered at the Brennan Humane Society at 437 Nine Mile tree Road in Mayfield.

State Police are in the process of attempting to locate the owner of the dogs, Valdez.
