Trevor D. Evans has been named publisher of The Leader-Herald effective immediately.

Evans, 29, comes to Gloversville from his position as advertising manager for The Express, a daily newspaper in Lock Haven, Pa.

He replaces Steve Herron who has been named publisher of The Inter-Mountain, a daily newspaper in Elkins, W.Va., which is Herron’s hometown.

Evans is a graduate of Lock Haven University with a bachelor of arts degree, majoring in political science.

“I am honored to become the publisher of The Leader-Herald,” Evans said Tuesday after being introduced to the newspaper’s management staff. “It’s been a great newspaper for this community and I hope to be able to make it even better.”

Evans says he is “thrilled to be a part of the newspaper industry.”

“Newspapers always have a strong connection and responsibility to the community they serve,” he said.

The newspaper’s website — leaderherald.com — will also fall under his auspices, as well as the substantial job printing business associated with the newspaper.

“I look forward to learning more about the area and getting to meet the leaders of the business community,” Evans said.

In Lock Haven, Evans was president of the Lions Club, head basketball coach for the Clinton County Special Olympics and committee member for Downtown Lock Haven, Inc.

Evans has been a member of the board of directors of the Pennsylvania News Media Association for the past three years.

He is married to the former Janet Kent and they are expecting their first child. They will be relocating to the area.
