GLOVERSVILLE — The third and final Twilight Market of 2017 will be held on Friday night, featuring a theme focused on the start of fall and back-to-school.
According to a news release from Downtown Development Specialist Jennifer Jennings, the Fulton County Center for Regional Growth will host the market on from 5 to 8 p.m. on North Main Street.
The Twilight Market is a three-part summer series held in the heart of the downtown business district and is meant to welcome families, community members, and friends for a night of entertainment.
“September’s market is themed Fresh Start and will be a great way to start off the autumn season,” the release states.
Market activities will include live music, a farmers market, community tables from Fulmont Community Church, Fulton County Museum, HFM Prevention Council, and Gloversville Public Library.
The music will be moved into the heart of the market following some changes to the physical make-up of the market. It was previously at Castiglione Park.
The event will have plenty of child-friendly activities including a free showing of “The Secret Life of Pets,” which will be held at the Glove Theater. There will also be face-painting and children’s activity presented by Mohawk Harvest Cooperative Market.
North Main Street will also be humming with several opportunities to meet neighbors, volunteer for future activities, and get a fresh start to the new school year, according to the release.
Micropolis Cooperative Gallery will be hosting a meet-the-artists reception from 5 to 7 p.m. and will feature the works of guest artist Marion Kratky along with other Micropolis artists.
The Chamber of Commerce will be hosting two separate events. From 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., the Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce will kick-off its new Women’s Advisory Council.
Council members will be on hand to discuss the group’s mission and initiatives. The HFM Prevention Council Art Show will also be taking place inside the chamber’s rotunda. Experience artwork, poetry and various forms of creative expression by people in recovery and other friends of HFM Prevention Council.
“This summer’s Twilight Market has been an amazing experience and has shown a community spirit beyond what I had hoped for,” said Jennings. “The Twilight Market’s success this year has definitely set us all up for a promising fresh start as we begin to plan downtown events in 2018. New businesses are opening their doors this month, a new school year has just started, and we are all ready, willing, and able to lend a hand as we focus our attention to a revitalized downtown.”
