AMSTERDAM — A raging fire caused severe damages to an Amsterdam home on Monday morning.
Amsterdam Fire Department responded to fire at 348 Guy Park Ave. at approximately 3:39 a.m. Mutual aid companies were on standby.
“There is extensive damage with collapse of the roof and floors,” said Fire Chief Michael Whitty.
The Amsterdam home will have to be demolished.
The fire department does not know the cause of the fire.
Whitty said the cause of the fire will remain undetermined.
“We can not do an investigation because the house is structurally unstable,” Whitty said. “It would be unsafe to send people inside for an investigation.”
When the Leader-Herald spoke to Battalion-Chief Tony Agresta on Monday, he said there were no injuries.
Whitty said the house has had renovations done to it. The homeowner was planning to move in when the renovations were completed.
“No one was living in the house at the time,” Whitty said.
