NORTHAMPTON (AP)— Saratoga Springs Police and the New York State Police have executed a search warrant on a parcel of land off of Route 30 in relation to a more than 30-year-old missing persons’ case.
According to police, the warrant was served Tuesday in the case of Tammie McCormick who vanished on April 29, 1986 when she was 13-years-old from the city of Saratoga Springs.
State police investigators plan to continue excavating the field today.
Police say the new search was prompted by information received over the past few months. The property being searched is owned by a relative of a now-deceased corrections officer who was considered a person of interest in the case.
Officials say the guard died of a heart attack in 2001.
The Leader-Herald will have more on this as information becomes available.
