Pot bust in Mayfield

MAYFIELD — An Amsterdam man was arrested by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department last week after 250 marijuana plants were found on property in the town.

A news release issued by the department Wednesday said Charles L. Harrington, 55, of 90 Clizbe Ave., was charged by the sheriff’s Investigations Unit on Friday. He was charged with growing cannabis by an unlicensed person.

The charge is a misdemeanor under state Public Health Law.

The release said the sheriff’s office received an anonymous tip of an illegal marijuana grow on Lathrop Lane in the town. Upon further investigation, investigators said 250 “mature” marijuana plants were discovered on the property.

An investigation is ongoing, authorities said.

Harrington was issued an appearance for Town Court for a later date.

Sheriff Richard Giardino was unavailable this morning to comment on the arrest.

The release said anyone who has information regarding drug activity is encouraged to report such information to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department. Calls can be made anonymously at: (518) 736-2100.
