JOHNSTOWN —City police and Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery BOCES reported a “non-credible” threat made Tuesday by a student to Jansen Avenue School, where the P-TECH Program is run.
“It’s all being handled as a juvenile matter,” city police Chief David Gilbo said Wednesday.
A BOCES-issued news release indicated city police on Tuesday launched an investigation into what was later deemed a “non-credible” threat made against the school. The release said a student reported the threat to school administration. The release said that following protocol, a “hold in place” was initiated shortly after 12:30 p.m. to allow police to search the school.
Gilbo said students were not allowed to leave their desks during that period.
The release said students were allowed to return to regular activities a short time later. Police took the student who allegedly made the threat into custody, and the investigation continues, BOCES said.
