JOHNSTOWN — Soroptimist International of Fulton and Montgomery Counties has a tasty, fundraising event planned for the public Monday — the annual “Evening With The Chefs,” starting at 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn.
“It’s our 26th year,” Soroptimist International Treasurer Colleen Baldwin said Tuesday.
She said the organization expects about 100 to 125 guests to show up hungry and ready to try dishes from the area’s quality restaurants.
“This is a great opportunity to come out and sample 15 restaurants,” Baldwin said.
Featured at the gastronomic celebration will be the best cuisine of local chefs and restaurants.
“Evening With The Chefs” is the Soroptimist group’s largest fundraising activity of the year, with proceeds to go towards the group’s scholarship program benefiting students in Fulton and Montgomery counties. Annually the group awards $10,000 to deserving students in the two-county region. Proceeds benefit Soroptimist-sponsored scholarships and community programs in the bi-counties.
The price for Monday’s event is $50 per person. There will be music, 45 silent auction items, and baskets will be raffled off. There will be a cash bar and participants are encouraged to stroll and enjoy local chef stations. Cocktails will start at 6 p.m., with nightcaps at 9 p.m.
“There are a couple new restaurants,” Baldwin said.
They include Salt in Broadalbin, she said.
At the event, local chefs from some of the best restaurants in the area will prepare a variety of dishes for tasting — from appetizers to entrees, to a great dessert bar. In addition to Salt, chefs from the following restaurants are scheduled to appear at the event: Double Eagle Restaurant at Kingsboro Golf Club, Gloversville; Sam’s Seafood Steakhouse, Johnstown; Vintage Cafe, Johnstown; Union Hall Inn, Johnstown; Palmateer’s Top Notch Tavern, Galway; Lanzi’s on the Lake, Mayfield; Hales Mills Country Club, Johnstown; Inn at the Bridge, Northville; Sugar Pearl Bakery, Gloversville; The Saucy Italian, Johnstown; Russo’s Adirondack Grill, Broadalbin; Broadalbin Hotel, Broadalbin.
The premier sponsor for the event is NBT Bank.
