JOHNSTOWN — A New Jersey state prisoner pleaded guilty recently in Fulton County Court to a felony burglary in Perth and now faces up to seven years in a New York state prison.
Jonathan E. Trow, 36, of Waterford — identified by authorities earlier this year as a New Jersey convict — entered an April 27 guilty plea before Fulton County Court Judge Louise K. Sira. He pleaded guilty to felony third-degree burglary, as part of a plea arrangement.
Sentencing was adjourned until a later date, but Trow is expected to receive 3 1/2 to seven years in state prison. He also must make an unspecified amount of restitution.
Trow was arrested Jan. 3 by Fulton County sheriff ‘s deputies on charges of second-degree burglary, third-degree grand larceny, third-degree criminal mischief, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon; and two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny.
Deputies at the time said Trow was charged from crimes allegedly committed in July 2016 in the town of Perth. An inmate at the time at South Woods State Prison in Bridgeton, N.J., deputies said Trow had been accused of breaking into a town of Perth residence. Deputies said he stole numerous items, including money and a handgun, which were recovered.
In other recent County Court action:
∫ John Kerr, 28, no address listed, was sentenced Monday by Sira to two to four years in state prison, as a second felony offender. He must also make $85 restitution.
The sentence was based on the defendant ‘s Jan. 25 guilty plea to second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
Kerr was arrested Nov. 9, 2017. Details of his case were unavailable.
∫ Eric S. Klena, 47, of Hohler Road, Gloversville, was sentenced Monday by Sira to one year in the county jail and he must make $325 in restitution. An order of protection was also granted for his victim.
The sentence was the result of Klena’s Feb. 15 conviction by a County Court jury on one count of misdemeanor petit larceny. He was acquitted of a felony second-degree burglary count.
Klena was arrested July 7, 2017 by state police on charges of second-degree burglary and second-degree criminal contempt.
Troopers at the time said he allegedly entered a home on Fisher Road in the town of Caroga and stole a chain saw and other tools, but the jury found him innocent of the most serious allegations.
