JOHNSTOWN — The city Planning Board on Tuesday approved an addition project by Miracle Ear/Frasier Enterprises at the Johnstown Industrial Park.
The business needs a one-story, ranch-style, 3,318-square-foot building addition at its current 131 Enterprise Road location. The addition is purely for creation of more office space.
Board Chairman Peter K. Smith on Tuesday conducted a public hearing on the project at City Hall. No comments were heard.
Smith asked City Clerk Carrie Allen and City Engineer Christopher Vose if any responses came back concerning the state Environmental Quality Review for the project. They said their offices didn’t receive any.
The board passed a motion with a finding of a “negative declaration” for the project’s SEQR process, meaning there were no significant environmental findings.
The board approved a one-year application for Miracle Ear/Frasier Enterprises to begin construction of its project.
Miracle Ear/Frasier Enterprises’ new project is expected to create 15 new jobs at the Johnstown Industrial Park.
The firm already employs about 25 to 30 people in Johnstown, including at its 55 E. Main St. call center at the Johnstown Professional Office Complex. The center does business with 350 stores in 18 states.
Miracle Ear/Frasier Associates said the building addition will tie into the existing 4,418-square-foot building.
The owner requested to add to the existing building because it is necessary to create more office space for his expanding business and his growing staff.
Commercial property for the project is comprised of nearly one acre. The project will extend 10 feet from the rear of the building and 40 feet from the left side of the building. Drainage will maintain consistency with the existing drainage. The project will not upgrade lighting. Expansion of the parking lot will allow for a total of 42 parking spaces, the project description states.
