Snowmobiler killed on Sacandaga

BROADALBIN — A Dutchess County man was killed in a snowmobile accident Friday night on the Great Sacandaga Lake after striking a pressure ridge.

Fulton County Sheriff’s received an Emergency 911 call at 11:34 p.m. Friday of a snowmobile accident on the Great Sacandaga Lake in the Town of Broadalbin, according to a press release.

The responding deputies investigation indicated that the man operating the snowmobile had struck a pressure ridge causing him to be ejected from the snowmobile, which resulted in life threatening injuries. The male was pronounced dead at the scene by Fulton County Coroner Maggie Luck.

The investigation is ongoing and the deceased name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office reminds the public to use caution while snowmobiling on the Great Sacandaga as there are numerous hazards on the lake.

Assisting the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office in their investigation was New York State Police, Broadalbin Fire Department, Mayfield Fire Department, Ambulance Service Of Fulton County, GAVAC, and the Fulton County Fire Coordinator’s office.
