JOHNSTOWN — The Fulton County Industrial Development Agency on Tuesday authorized execution of an easement with National Grid to accommodate new electrical lines for the Tryon Technology Park in Perth.
The IDA board authorized board Chairman Dave D’Amore at the Fort Johnstown Annex to execute the agreement with the utility.
National Grid has requested a 20-foot-wide easement along the former second access route into Tryon. This easement will be used to locate National Grid’s new overhead electric lines the utility will be running from County Highway 107 to County Highway 117.
According to agency Executive Director James Mraz, IDA attorney Kara Lais reviewed the easement and found it to be acceptable.
Fulton County is funding a project involving a new electric system for the Tryon Technology Park in 2019. Last year, the report said National Grid presented a revised design for the new system that would bring a new overhead line into Tryon from County Highway 107 along an old secondary access road. Once this overhead line reaches County Highway 117, the line would then go underground. The new line would run along County Highway 117 and service the existing wastewater pump station, water booster station, elevated tank, Vireo Health and Building 60.
In other business Tuesday, the board approved sending the state its request for information.
On May 20, the IDA received a May 17 letter from the state Senate’s Investigations and Government Operations Committee.
Mraz said the 10-page letter requested “voluminous” information from the IDA. The letter advised that under state law, the committee has the authority to issue a subpoena. Mraz said a draft response to the Information and document request was prepared, and the draft response was emailed to IDA members on June 3.
The board Tuesday formally approved the draft response and authorized Mraz to submit the response to the Senate committee.
