JOHNSTOWN — The Common Council will start the 2019 bidding process for city street paving at its meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at City Hall.
A resolution is on the council agenda to advertise for sealed written bids for resurfacing of certain city streets. City Engineer Christopher Vose couldn’t be reached Friday regarding which streets are due to be paved.
The city is accepting street resurfacing bids until 11 a.m. July 10 at City Hall.
Officials said the total funds available for city paving is $363,506 for fiscal year 2019-20. The state Department of Transportation has notified the city that $279,861 is available through Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program, or CHIPs, funding.
In other business Monday, the council will consider a resolution to accept a request for proposal for telecommunication services. Officials say city government is in need of upgrades to computer and telephone systems.
A proposed resolution is on the agenda for the council to accept a $10,000 offer from the public for a city-owned property on Linden Avenue.
The council is expected to authorize a retroactive health officer agreement running through next March 31 at an annual cost of $5,000. In other personnel matters, the council is expected to confirm Mayor Vern Jackson’s appointment of new Internal Control Officer Darryl Purinton through Dec. 31, 2021.
Jessica McClements of McLemon’s, a West Main Street store with unique clothing and accessories, is slated as a public speaker.
Other parts of the meeting will include: claims and accounts, city official and liaison reports, council discussion, and announcements by Jackson.
