JOHNSTOWN — The man who kidnapped a man for a week, tortured him and sexually abused him was sentenced today in Fulton County Court by Judge Polly Hoye to 20 years to life for first-degree kidnapping, two sentences of 20 years for the two charges of first-degree assault, and seven years for third-degree aggravated sexual abuse. The sentences are to run concurrently.
Delaney Akins, 27, of Manhattan, was convicted May 10 on the charges that he lured his victim into the basement of 15 James St., Gloversville asking for help in finding some lost drugs.
Once in the basement, Akins hit his victim over the head, bound him and tortured him for days until the victim managed to escape and was found walking toward Nathan Littauer Hospital with a towel wrapped around his head.
There will be more on this story in tomorrow’s paper.
