Council slated to complete bidding process

JOHNSTOWN — The Common Council is aiming to complete the rebidding process for 2019 city street paving at its meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at City Hall.

The city had to rebid this year and the council is looking at acceptance of a bid for street resurfacing.

The council was poised in the first round of bidding to accept a $289,530 paving bid from Empire Paving of Duanesburg. But human error resulted in having to rebid.

Bids were publicly opened Thursday morning at City Hall, but results weren’t immediately known.

In other business Monday, the council is expected to consider accepting an audit services proposal from West & Company CPAs PC in Gloversville. The city seeks an accountant to audit its Annual Financial Report Update Document.

A resolution is on the agenda to approve a Municipal Advisor Services Agreement with Munistat Services Inc. to provide financial advisory services, regarding bond issues.

The council is due to advertise for a Sept. 16 public hearing on a proposed five year Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program for the city. The city operates the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development program.

Council members are looking to rescind a previous resolution pertaining to an assessor independent contractor, and enter into an assessment support services agreement

A final resolution on the agenda calls for a city/Fulton County agreement for snow and ice removal. The county has agreed to provide snow removal and ice control of Maple Avenue from North Perry Street to the Johnstown city line, in exchange for the city providing the same on County Highway 148 from the Johnstown city line (Glebe Street) to the Montgomery County line.

Also on the agenda will be the normal city official and liaison reports, discussion of pending city issues, and announcements.
