JOHNSTOWN — The Greater Johnstown School District Board of Education on Thursday approved the resignation of Glebe Street Elementary School Principal Abbey North, effective next Wednesday.
After seven years as Glebe’s principal, North is taking a principalship in Albany County. The Rock City Falls resident will become the principal of Loudonville Elementary School, which is part of the North Colonie Central School District.
Board of Education President Christopher Tallon called North one of the “stand out” staff within the district, who offered a “great deal of service” to Glebe and the Johnstown school system.
“She was a great fit for that school,” Tallon said.
He said that North was well-respected by all who came in contact with her.
The board on Thursday at Johnstown High School appointed Joyce Caputo as interim principal at Glebe Street Elementary School, at $350 per day, during the 2019-20 school year. The board did not discuss the search for a permanent replacement for North, although Tallon called Caputo a “good replacement” in the interim.
