JOHNSTOWN — The Johnstown Public Library will host “An Evening of Love Songs,” a family-friendly concert featuring more than a dozen area and regional performers at 7 p.m. Friday at the library, 38 S. Market St.
The event is a fundraiser to support the Johnstown Mid-Summer Concert Series, which was established in 2018 and will return for its third season in July and August of this year, according to a news release.
The music groups and solo performers volunteering Friday to perform “love songs,” in a variety of genres from folk to country to rock and blues, will include Matt Bosworth, Brightside Duo, The Insolent Willies, Kyle Rix, Durey Creek Bluegrass Band, the Doghouse Carpenters, Peter Betz and Revisions Barbershop Quartet.
Admission to the event will be by free-will donation. A $5 donation per person is suggested.
This will be the library’s third annual wintertime revue-style concert to support the summer concert series. The previous years’ concerts — “An Evening of Train Songs” in 2018 and “An Evening of Animal Songs” in 2019, drew enthusiastic audiences and helped draw attention to the Johnstown Midsummer Concert Series.
Some important news about the future of the Johnstown Midsummer Concert Series — including the summer 2020 lineup — will be announced at Friday’s event, according to Bill Ackerbauer, the local musician who founded the series with the help of the Johnstown Citizens Band.
“I’m excited to let the community know what we have in store for our third concert season,” Ackerbauer said in the release. “We have booked some top-notch regional and touring bands to play in Johnstown this summer.”
