AMSTERDAM — Liberty Enterprises, the manufacturing division of Liberty ARC — a Chapter of The Arc New York — saw approximately a 300 percent increase in product fulfillment rates in the months of March and April for soap, cleaning, janitorial and other essential products sold to New York state end-use customers to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
In 2019, Liberty Enterprises averaged more than 11,000 cases of products sold each month; in March 2020, that number surged to 20,520 cases, and in April 2020, Liberty Enterprises fulfilled 29,222 cases of product.
GOJO/Purell products sold by Liberty Enterprises account for more than 25,000 cases fulfilled during the months of March and April. These products include hand sanitizers, sanitizing wipes, dispensing units and dispenser refills. Over the past two months, Liberty Enterprises has seen sales orders for these essential products increase more than 100 percent.
Because of this surge, Liberty Enterprises has added a second shift to ensure customers get the products they need as quickly as possible.
“Throughout the manufacturing division we have witnessed our employees willingly adjust their schedules, work areas and roles to help us meet our labor and fulfillment needs,” Erin Abele, Liberty ARC’s director of employment services and industrial operations, said. “Our shipping and receiving staff, drivers, material handlers, quality assurance and control personnel, production planner, lead supervisors, machine operators and packagers have eagerly taken on these challenging times and are working tirelessly. Team members from other departments of the organization, including staff training, employment services, facilities and retail operations are also lending a hand and helping out with our day-to-day production needs. We are stronger together!”
“Liberty Enterprises offers manufacturing job opportunities to individuals with disabilities who might otherwise not be able to find employment,” Liberty ARC CEO Jennifer Saunders said. “We are very proud to be an essential manufacturer providing much needed products to New York businesses during the Coronavirus pandemic.”
