JOHNSTOWN — Youth activities, book clubs and music highlight happenings at the Johnstown Public Library during October.
Library officials say that even during the COVID-19 pandemic, activities associated with the library continue to reach the public.

In October, library staff said the 38 S. Market St. facility has announced a “brand new book club” – the Pride Reads Book Club. It is a monthly gathering for young people to explore diverse perspectives and experiences in books. The staff has several copies of the book you can borrow at the library. This club is for young people in grades seven through 12, and meets at the library. The password is: Johnstown.
The Pride Reads Book Club meets next at 4 p.m. Oct. 28. The October pick is “Clap When You Land” by Elizabeth Acevedo.
“Musictime” is also an activity at the library with children’s folk singer/guitarist Gary VanSlyke. In a new, shorter format, he will have a short musical performance each Thursday at 10:30 a.m. on the library Facebook page.
Families are also urged to join in for Storytime. Erin will post shorter Storytimes on Tuesdays. Check in for children’s book readings each Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. on the library Facebook page.
The library’s Book Club this month at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 16 will discuss “When All is Said” by Anne Griffin. Patrons can pick up a copy at the library circulation desk. The group will be meeting in person. Attendance is limited, and those interested should contact the library to reserve a seat. You can also watch the discussion live online. The SF Book Club will meet at 6 p.m. Nov. 4. The meeting link password is: Johnstown. The November book is “One Hundred Years of Solitude” by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
A Youth Dungeons & Dragons game hosted by the library for patrons age nine to 12 meets at 4 p.m. Mondays. The Zoom meeting will be at the library and the password is: Johnstown. Contact the library on Facebook or email Robert at [email protected] for more information.
