Hemp plants stolen from Mayfield farm

MAYFIELD — State Police received a report of a larceny on Sept. 18 of an estimated $11,000 to $17,000 worth of hemp plants from a local hemp farm in the Mayfield area.

It is believed that the suspects thought they were stealing hemp’s cousin, marijuana, and took the plants to be processed and sold as the drug.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or the sale of “fake” marijuana, most likely in the Mayfield, Gloversville, Amsterdam area, is asked to call state police at (518) 630-1700.
