Children’s Nigra event

GLOVERSVILLE — The Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts, 2736 Route 30, will be having a President’s Day palooza event for children ages 5 to 12 on Monday with one morning session from 10 a.m. to noon and an afternoon session from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The cost is $30 per child, according to a news release.

The event will include a variety of presidential-themed arts, crafts and activities, including drawing and painting a “fun dollar bill” featuring the child’s self-portrait; decorating a George Washington cupcake; painting an oriental-style cherry tree like the one George allegedly cut down; and, if time remains, molding a candle that looks like Abe Lincoln and drawing his portrait. The classes and activities will be led by instructor Cheryl Bielli, a former art teacher for Johnstown and Gloversville schools.

The NAC will have a number of COVID-19 protocols in place to ensure the health and safety of all participants. The safety measurers include mandatory face masks, social distancing during classes, cleaning procedures before and after all events. The class sizes for this event will also be limited to eight children per session to ensure proper social distancing.
