SYRACUSE — Neil Giraldi, age 65, of Amsterdam, was recently sentenced to 33 months in prison for attempting to transfer obscene material to a minor.
The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Antoinette T. Bacon and Nicholas B. Boshears, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Albany Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
In pleading guilty, Giraldi admitted to sending sexually explicit messages and multiple pictures of his genitals to an undercover FBI agent posing as a 13-year-old child on a social media application.
In addition to the prison sentence, Senior United States District Judge Norman A. Mordue sentenced Giraldi to a three-year term of post-release supervision.
This case was investigated by the FBI and its Child Exploitation Task Force, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rachel Williams.
