JOHNSTOWN — The Johnstown Public Library is headed into the mid-year with renewed activity amidst reopening after protracted closings for COVID-19.
According to library officials, the 38 S. Market St. facility has increased activities with the start of June.
“We are happy to be open to the public again!” the library’s newsletter informs the public. “Patrons can come into the building to browse and check out materials. We continue to offer curbside pickup for our patrons.”

The library posts a short Storytime on Tuesdays. Children’s book readings go up each Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. on the library Facebook page.
Gary VanSlyke will have a short musical performance each Thursday in June at 10:30 a.m. on the library Facebook page.
Library officials say the Book Club is exploring LGBTQIA+ stories. This month’s book is “Network Effect” by Martha Wells. This group is intended for adult readers. The meeting will be online using Zoom; and the password is Johnstown.
This month, the club will discuss “The Secret Diary of Henrik Groen, 83 1/4 Years Old” by Hendrik Groen. Patrons can pick up a copy at the library. Weather permitting, the group will meet in the library parking lot. If there is bad weather the meeting will be online using Zoom with the password Johnstown.
Another read for the club is “The Golem and the Jinni” by Helene Wecker, and participants can share their thoughts on the book. The meeting will be online using Zoom; with the password Johnstown.
Other June activities are related to Dungeons & Dragons games. The library has one hosted by the library for patrons age nine to 12.
