JOHNSTOWN — Sydney Arminio, 10, dancer at the House of Performing Arts, competed in the 2021 National Dance Competition, That’s Entertainment Performing Arts Competition in Atlantic City July 8 through 11 and was selected to be on their Elite team after she competed regionally in May 2021 in Saratoga. On the regional level, Sydney at That’s Entertainment Performing Arts Competition received two first place solo awards, first place platinum and first place solid gold. She also received a Regional High Score Winner after placing first overall high score for 10-12 year shooting stars solo, according to a news release.
While at Nationals, she attended Elite team workshops consisting of Tap, Hip Hop, and Contemporary. Sydney participated in a music video, showcase rehearsal and a National showcase. Sydney received the following awards at Nationals consisting of a National first place platinum for her Acro solo and placed seventh overall for the 10 to 12 age division, National second place solid gold for her contemporary solo, Judges Special Award for Dynamics Acro moves, the Most Valuable Competitor for her studio and studio spokesperson, and won the National Rep your Studio Battle competing against eight Studios and three rounds.
Sydney, who has been dancing since three years of age, says dance is everything to her and having a supportive family is a blessing, according to the release. Sydney does dance, gymnastics, martial arts, and powerlifting and it all factors in competing.
Summer clinic classes start back up in August and Sydney says she is very excited to train and compete for the next season. She is the daughter of Sue and Scott Sarminio of Johnstown.
