Fatal accident happens in park

JOHNSTOWN — Speed may have played a role in a fatal accident involving a motorcyclist Thursday in the Johnstown Industrial Park, law enforcement authorities said.

The Johnstown Police Department on Friday reported the death of 36-year-old motorcyclist Andre Rattray, whose address was not released.

A police news release indicated that on Thursday, the Johnstown Police Department and Johnstown Fire Department were dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Enterprise Road, which is located in the Johnstown Industrial Park. The time of the crash wasn’t released.

Police said patrol officers arrived on the scene and found a motorcycle was involved in a collision with a pickup truck. The operator of the motorcycle, Rattray, was found unconscious nearby.

Johnstown police officers began CPR until members of the Johnstown Fire Department arrived on scene and continued medical care.

A LifeNet helicopter was requested to the scene and transported the victim to Albany Medical Center. Due to his injuries, the victim passed away at the facility.

Officials said that while the investigation is still ongoing, the speed of the motorcycle appears to be a “factor” in the collision. The operator of the pickup truck, and witnesses to the accident, have fully cooperated with the investigation, police said.

The truck driver’s identity is not being released at this time. No tickets or injuries for the truck driver were indicated in the release.
