Gloversville Police: Suspect series of thefts from cars arrested after Wednesday foot chase

GLOVERSVILLE – A suspect in a series of car larcenies on Gloversville’s North End has been arrested, police said Thursday.

Joshua S. Bailey, age and residence not immediately available, was arrested on an outstanding warrant in and unrelated case after a foot chase, police said.

Additional charges are expected, police said.

Police have received complaints of an estimated 30 thefts from cars since July 29, mostly on the North End, police said.

Police soon identified Bailey as a suspect and determined he was also wanted on the unrelated case, police said.

Then, on Wednesday afternoon, Gloversville detectives leaving a separate burglary complaint spotted Bailey, police said.

Bailey fled on foot and police gave chase in the area of Bleecker and North streets.

The search led to a significant police response and Bailey ultimately surrendered from an apartment on Bleecker, police said.

Bailey was taken to jail on the warrant and additional charges are being drafted, police said.

Anyone who was the victim of a car larceny that has yet to be reported or who has additional information is asked to contact the

Gloversville Police Department at 518-773-4506.

Residents are also encouraged to ensure their vehicles are locked when left unattended, police said.
