SCHENECTADY – Funeral services for Trooper James J. Monda were being held Monday morning at Schenectady’s St. John the Evangelist Church.
Services began at 10 a.m.
Law enforcement gathered prior to the service. Gov. Kathy Hochul was also in attendance.
Monda, 45, died Aug. 22 while assigned to the Great Sacadaga Lake.
Monda was a native of Schenectady County and had served as a trooper with the state police since 2002, most of that time spent in the Capital Region. He graduated from Mohonasen High School in 1993 and SUNY Albany in 1998.
