After a long hiatus, the Mohawk Valley Chorus is planning to resume rehearsals in September.

The chorus, under the direction of David M. Rossi, will rehearse for its annual Christmas concert series (tentatively scheduled for Dec. 4 and 5). Alyssa Rizzo is the new MVC accompanist. In 2022, a classics concert is planned for mid-March, and the season traditionally concludes with a pops concert series in May.

The first rehearsal session is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 13, at the Inman Senior Center, 53 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.

All singers are asked to report at 6:30 p.m. to register and pick up music; rehearsal runs from 7 to 9 p.m.

Future rehearsals will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. (This is a half-hour earlier than previous seasons.)

New singers are welcome; prospective singers can join the first two rehearsals without making a commitment to join.

Annual dues are $50 and should be paid by the close of the second rehearsal. (MVC can accept cash or a personal check made out to the Mohawk Valley Chorus)

All singers should take note of the new guidelines this season to help ensure everyone’s safety:

1.) CDC guidelines at the time of resumption of rehearsals will be followed.

2.) All singers are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

3.) All singers are required to wear a mask during each rehearsal.

4.) Social distancing will be observed at all times.

5.) Hand sanitizer and antibiotic wipes will be available.

These restrictions are being put into place to help ensure everyone’s safety. David and the MVC Board of Directors will re-evaluate these guidelines as time goes on.
