BROADALBIN – A Broadalbin man broke into a home in Mayfield and stole a safe, Fulton County Sheriff’s officials said.

He then later returned to commit another theft, officials said.

Brandon Gladman, 20, of Broadalbin, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, third-degree grand larceny, felonies, and misdemeanor petit larceny, officials said.

The incidents happened Thursday at a residence in Mayfield. Deputies originally responded there Thursday afternoon for a report that someone had broken in and taken a safe, officials said.

Deputies and investigators processed the scene and left. Then, shortly after they left, a separate theft happened at the same address. An off-duty sheriff’s deputy spotted the second larceny and Gladman was arrested at the residence, officials said.

Gladman later admitted to being involved in the prior burglary and was charged with that, as well, officials said.

Gladman was processed and released to appear in court later.
