Gloversville Police: Three businesses illegally sold in underage alcohol, tobacco sting

GLOVERSVILLE – Three out of 15 businesses checked illegally sold either alcohol or tobacco to an underage buyer in a Thursday sting, police said.

City police conducted the underage drinking enforcement and tobacco enforcement Thursday, police said.

They checked a total of 15 businesses throughout the city. In the end, three sold to an underage agent, police said.

Police identified the three businesses who sold as Fulton St. Deli, 113 ., Fulton St. (alcohol); and Naif’s, 251 N. Main St., and 5 Star Smoke Shop, 260 N. Main St. (both alcohol and tobacco).

The cashiers who sold alcohol to the underage agent were issued an appearance ticket for violation of state Alcoholic Beverage Control Law. They are to appear in court later.

The cashiers who sold tobacco to the underage agent were issued an appearance ticket for violation of state Public Health Law. They are to appear in court later.
