Former Gloversville Senior Center employee charged with theft from organization, police say

GLOVERSVILLE – A former employee at the Gloversville Senior Center has been arrested, accused of theft from the organization, police said.

Aimee R. Ricciardi, 46, of Gloversville, was arrested last week and charged with one count of third-degree grand larceny, a felony.

She is accused of taking in excess of $3,000 from the center, police said.

She did so by purchasing unauthorized items for herself between April 2020 and July 2021, police spokesman Lt. Bradley Schaffer said.

The investigation began last month when detectives received a complaint from the senior center’s Board of Directors indicating that the center had suffered theft of funds via unauthorized purchases from a former employee, police said.

Investigators then were able to link Ricciardi to the theft and charge her, police said.

Schaffer declined to place a specific dollar amount on the alleged theft, saying investigators were still working. The $3,000 figure is the threshold required for the third-degree grand larceny charge.

Police did not identify Ricciardi’s role at the senior center, but newspaper records indicate the center hired Ricciardi in October 2019 as its new director.

A representative of the center indicated Thursday they had no comment on the criminal case, but the center continues to operate and is adding programs.
