The investigation began when a deputy spotted a motorcycle abandoned on County Highway 107 in Perth without license plates attached, officials said.

Further inquiry resulted in learning the motorcycle had been in an accident there and left on the roadside. The crash was not reported to police, officials said. Officials also soon learned that the bike had been reported stolen.

Deputies located the other operator involved in the accident, who then identified Acquilla as the operator of the motorcycle, officials said.

Acquilla also had three warrants out of the town of Johnstown, city of Johnstown and Gloversville for failure to appear on other charges, officials said.

Acquilla was arraigned and ordered held on $10,000 bail.
