Sheriff: Students charged with assault in Fonda-Fultonville bathroom attack

FONDA – Three teenagers have been arrested, accused in connection with an attack inside a bathroom at Fonda-Fultonville schools, Montgomery County Sheriff’s officials said.

Two of the teens, both girls age 15, are accused directly in the attack, while a third, age 16, is accused of involvement through FaceTime, officials said.

All three face misdemeanors. None were identified due to their ages, officials said.

The investigation began Wednesday as a sheriff’s deputy assigned to the district as a school resource officer received information from the school administration of an incident that happened during school hours the day before, Tuesday, officials said.

An investigation by school staff and members of the sheriff’s office then uncovered video evidence that showed the two 15-year-old suspects inside a restroom physically assaulting another girl, officials said.

The victim was later found to have suffered physical injuries that required medical attention at a hospital, officials said.

Investigators also determined that a third girl, age 16, influenced the two assault suspects via video on FaceTime, officials said.

The two 15-year-olds were charged as juveniles with third-degree assault and second-degree unlawful imprisonment. The 16-year-old was not present at the school, but was charged with sixth-degree conspiracy, a misdemeanor.

The three suspects were issued appearance tickets for the Montgomery County Probation Department, officials said.
