TOWN OF AMSTERDAM – A Gloversville woman stole more than $3,000 in merchandise last week from the town of Amsterdam Target store, state police said.
Amy L. Johnson, 32, of Gloversville, was arrested Jan. 8 and charged with one count of third-degree grand larceny, a felony, along with misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance, state police said.
State police responded to the store at around noon that day for a report of a person shoplifting, troopers said.
The preliminary investigation determined Johnson had left the store without paying for the merchandise, which totaled more than $3,000, state police said.
A search following her arrest then uncovered both white powder and crystal-like substances in various packaging, state police said.
Johnson was arraigned and sent to the Montgomery County Jail, state police said.
