Troopers: Three charged in underage alcohol sales sting in Fulton, Montgomery counties

An underage alcohol sales sting conducted this week in Fulton and Montgomery counties led to the arrests of three people accused of selling alcohol to someone under the age of 21, state police said.

Authorities checked 15 businesses between the two counties. Three businesses sold alcohol to the minor, while 12 did not, state police said.

Troopers charged the three individuals with first-degree unlawful dealing with a child and prohibited sale to a person under the age of 21, both misdemeanors.

The three charged and the businesses they worked at, as identified by state police, are:

  • Joette J. Quillan, 47, of Gloversville – ZZ Mart, State Route 29 A, Gloversville
  • Khuram S. Khuram, 46, of Albany – Gulf, Perry Street, Johnstown
  • Lawrence DeMaria, 68, of Amsterdam – West End Wine and Liquor, Amsterdam

The investigations involve troopers in plainclothes and one or several underage operatives who cannot lie about their age or give a false date of birth, state police said. When asked for ID, they give their real ID.
