Gloversville Police: Monday one-vehicle crash leaves one person dead

GLOVERSVILLE The driver of a commercial vehicle was pronounced dead after a one-vehicle crash in Gloversville Monday, police said.

The crash happened just after noon Monday at the intersection of Easterly Street and E. State Street, police said.

Officers and firefighters responded there for a report of a crash. They arrived to find a commercial vehicle had struck a retired traffic signal pole, police said.

The operator of the vehicle, the only person inside, was taken to Nathan Littauer Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The man’s identity was not immediately released.

Members of the New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit have been requested to assist, police said.

Easterly Street between E. State Street and Gillen Terrace was closed for the investigation.
