The Amsterdam Mohawks continued to distance themselves from the rest of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League with a pair of wins over the weekend, crushing the Glens Falls Dragons 22-2 on Saturday at Shuttleworth Park, then beating the Saugerties Stallions 5-1 on Sunday at Cantine Memorial Field.

On Saturday, the Mohawks set their season-high for runs thanks to three big innings — six runs in the first, five in the second and nine in the fourth. Cade Bush went 3 for 5 with a home run, a double and five RBIs to lead the charge, while Gage Miller and Michael O’Shaughnessy also went deep.

In total, eight different Amsterdam players had at least two RBIs, and the team pounded out 18 hits in the Mohawks’ 10th mercy rule win of the season.

Sunday, it was the pitching staff that led the way, combining on a six-hitter. Holden Phelps struck out seven and allowed just one hit in four shutout innings, with Luis Misla, Jack Sylvia and Santhosh Gottam finishing off the night. Miller doubled and drove in a run for Amsterdam, and Zach Gardiner went 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

The Mohawks (25-4) are off Monday and are next set to play a doubleheader against the Niagara Power on Tuesday at Shuttleworth Park, with Game 1 set to start at 5 p.m.
