NELLISTON A Palatine Bridge man has been arrested after Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported baseball bat assault in Nelliston Tuesday, sheriff’s officials said.

Deputies responded to the Pine Ridge Estates residence just before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday for the reported assault with a baseball bat, officials said. After interviews, deputies determined Prevost to be the suspect and that he had fled into nearby woods.

Deputies searched the area and one soon located Prevost hiding under a pickup truck in the rear of a nearby residence, officials said.

Then, as deputies attempted to take him into custody, he physically resisted and then spat in the deputy’s face, officials said.

Prevost was arraigned and released to return to court later.
