State Police: Gloversville man possessed, promoted child pornography; Had illegal firearm silencer

GLOVERSVILLE A Gloversville man possessed and promoted child pornography and also possessed an illegal firearm silencer, state police said.

Kurt P. Dobler, 28, of Gloversville, was charged earlier this month with one count each of promoting and possessing a sexual performance by a child, as well as one count of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies.

State police in Mayfield conducted the investigation with the assistance of the Computer Crimes Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, state police said.

The investigation stemmed from a cyber tip and led to a search of Dobler’s residence July 1. The search also uncovered the illegal firearm silencer, troopers said.

Dobler was arraigned and ordered held on $15,000 bail.
