Troopers: Pilot injured in weekend western Montgomery County plane crash

PALATINE A pilot was injured in a small western Montgomery County plane crash Saturday, New York State Police said Monday.

The call came in at about 12:20 p.m. for a report of a plane crash with injuries in the area of Eaker Road in Palatine, police said.

The pilot suffered injuries believed to be non-life-threatening and was airlifted to Albany Medical Center by LifeNet of New York, police said.

The preliminary investigation determined that the privately owned single-engine airplane experienced a mechanical issue shortly after leaving the ground, police said.

State police were assisted at the scene by the Federal Aviation Administration, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, LifeNet and St. Johnsville EMS.

The investigation into the accident remained pending Monday, police said.
