GLEN – A malnourished horse was discovered at a Glen farm and the woman identified as its owner has now been charged, Montgomery County Sheriff’s officials said Wednesday.

Vicky Ferguson, 45, of Fultonville, was charged Wednesday with failure to provide proper sustenance, a misdemeanor, officials said.

The investigation began Tuesday when officials received a report of possible animal neglect at a residence in Glen, officials said.

An investigation then located several horses there, one of which “was significantly malnourished and had not been provided veterinary care in an extended period of time,” officials wrote in a release.

Investigators then identified Ferguson as the owner of the horse. Officials described her as cooperative and she later turned herself in to be processed. She was released to appear in court later.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Montgomery County SPCA, local veterinary staff and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
