Gloversville man faces gun, drug counts in two-county investigation, troopers say

GLOVERSVILLE — A Gloversville man has been arrested on drug and gun charges following searches conducted last week as part of an ongoing investigation, according to state police.

Jesse J. Smith, 39, faces one count of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and one count of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

The investigation also included the Gloversville Police Department and the St. Johnsville Police Department, state police said.

The searches were conducted at known residences of Smith on Nov. 23 at homes on Oakland Avenue in Gloversville and Perthshire Drive in Perth. Authorities seized four long guns, five handguns, an assortment of bullets, more than three pounds of cannabis, a felony-weight amount of narcotics, digital scales and packaging materials, according to state police.

Police arrested Smith at the Perth location. He was arraigned and ordered held without bail.

The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are expected, police said.
